Mods:
Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs are a requirement for all raiders if you plan to do any boss encounter easily.

Raid Setup:
(10-Man)
Tanks: 2
Healers: 3
DPS: 5 (2 Melee required)

(25-Man)

DPS: 16 (At least 3 Melee required; recommended 5)

Strategy:

Positioning:

Main Tank is positioned off to the right of Magmaw while melee players are positioned off to the left. Range and healers are spread out around the room but should stay centralized. The reasoning for this is half the room will fill with steam every so often and by standing towards the center it is easy to move from the left and right side of the room.

Phase 1:

Every 30 seconds or so Magmaw will cast a spell called Pillar of Flames and it will target one random raid member. Under this raid member a circular fire graphic will appear and they need to run out in less then 3 seconds or they will be launched into the air. In addition, once Pillar of Flame occurs small adds will spawn and the off-tank needs to pick them up. At this point all ranged players and spell casters need to dump aoe on the adds fast and hard (melee stays on Magmaw.) Once they are dead dps returns to the boss. This cycle will occur about twice every phase. Also during this phase is a room-wide fire aoe that is unavoidable and is simply a healer check.

Phase 2:

After about 2 Pillar of Flames Magmaw will bow his head to the group and will be click-able, like you were getting on a mount. Your melee players need to right click Magmaw and mount his head. In 10-Man your 2 melee have this job, in 25-Man you must designate 3 melee players for this task. Once your melee is on Magmaw’s head they will get a new spell bar with 1 ability. This ability is a chain that will be used to pull Magmaw to the ground. In order to do this you must click the ability and ground target the spike located just in front of Magmaw. All melee on the head must do this fast and together so having a melee leader do a fast 3 second countdown is advised. In addition, while Magmaw bows his head and melee are preparing to chain him to the ground the main tank will be pick-up and Mangled. Tank healers must do what they can to keep him alive. In addition, the tank can use cool downs while in the air to mitigate damage. If your melee aren’t quick with the chains the main tank will be killed, no if ands or buts.

Phase 3:

Once Magmaw is chained to the ground you will have 30 seconds of free time to dps him hard and fast. During this time he will take 100% increased damage so popping heroism or time warp is advised. Once the 30 seconds are over Magmaw will wiggle free and the fight starts from phase 1 and does a rinse and repeat until he is dead.


Healing:


Healing in this fight can be challenging. In 10-Man, you should assign one healer to the main tank, one floating between the raid and the off-tank and a third focusing purely on the off-tank. As mentioned before, during phase 1 Magmaw will do a room-wide heavy aoe, so healers must be ready to top off people’s health on the fly. In addition, during phase 3 when Magmaw is chained to the ground there is no incoming damage, so this is a perfect time for healers to mp5 and regain mana.


Summary:

Main tank on right of Magmaw
Melee on left of Magmaw.
Range and healers spread out towards center of room.
Move out of Pillar of flame when it occurs.
Off-tank picks up adds and range/caster aoe them down quickly.
When Magmaw bows his head, your melee jump on then chain him to the ground.
Once he is on the ground dps him hard and fast.
Rinse repeat.

still figuring out this paint stuff :P remember that healing and raid cds will be used throughout this phase.. once we figure out where the adds are we can place markers around where the flails will spawn in the south
